Home League Tournaments

How do you get started with a Home League Tournament?

If you have started your league and need to register it, click here.

  • What is a "Home League"?  - A home league is just that - A tournament league hosted at your home or other location.  Your goal is to accumulate enough of a prize pool for the prize package for your winner! She will go to the LIPS Tour Grand Championship in Las Vegas. The package should cover, Airfare, Hotel, Buy In and LPN Fees.

YOUR Winner is invited to the Winner's Circle Dinner/Reception on the eve of the championship tournament! The amount needed for LIPS is $330 for the buy in and tournament fees, $100 for the Reception, and $100 administrative participation fee.  For a total of $530 being sent in for your winner.  Now, you know your area best and the costs for airfare, etc.  Sometimes, you can purchase a package deal for hotel and air very reasonably. We recommend you do this and make sure the funds collected is adequate.

  • How much does it cost for a home league? - It costs you time and commitment and a small buy in amount per week of play.  The amount of the weekly buy-in for the Poker League is at your discretion. But remember... the goal is to send at least one player to the Ladies International Poker Series Grand Championship Tournament in Las Vegas. The total prize package must be valued at least $530 per winner's package plus the costs of hotel and airfare. If you form a large league or you increase the buy-in amount, multiple winners can be sent!

  • What do I need to do? - Just invite at least eight to ten ladies to play a poker tournament once a week for a specified period of usually 10 weeks.  For example, if you have 10 ladies that pay $11/week for 10 weeks, the prize pool will be $1100.00.  ($530 to LIPS and $570 for airfare and hotel.) You may also consider increasing the buy-in for the weekly tourney so you can award weekly cash prizes.

There are additional expenses for tournament supplies. We have a list of what is needed and where to get supplies...  click here for more information on supplies.  Sometimes, one of your invited players might already own poker chips and would be willing to bring them weekly for the game. (Approximately 500 chip set per 10 players.)  Same goes for other portions of the supplies.

  • We will help you!  - If you would like a representative of LIPS Tour to assist you, simply email us with your questions.

  • Tourney Structures.  You can conduct a weekly tourney in a relaxed blind structure or aggressive.  It's your choice.  Click here to view samples of blind structures Single Table (10 players) or Multi-Table (10+) Tournaments (as provided by HomePokerTourney.com)

  • Awarding Points.  One of the easiest points systems is to award one point for each player in the tournament. For example, in a 20 player tournament, first place gets 20 points, second place gets 19 points, third place gets 18 points ... all the way down to last place that gets 1 point. The more players in the tournament, the more points the winners will be awarded. If it's a large league, then the top 20, 30 to 50 get points.  OR, you can add a hundred to it and make it 200, 190, 180, etc...  it's up to your your discretion!
